Mayfly

“Mayfly - byť či nebyť”

One man – one stage – one life

Tragicomedy (slapstick, clown, pantomime)

for teenagers and adults

Duration 90 minutes, no break, nonverbal

Director: Maike Jansen

Comprehensive, haunting, humorous. A 24-hour biography that has it all. In a mixture of slapstick, clowning, pantomime and acting, pohyb's and his ilk allow the audience to immerse themselves in a world beyond language, about failure and success, dreams and reality and the race with and against time - non-verbal theater not entirely without language.

The use of words in the Slovak language focuses on non-verbal communication and makes “foreignness” tangible.

The courageous flight of the mayfly "Mucha", her great dream of conquering the world of the stage, ends abruptly with an early fall. The story seems to be over, barely begun. But expectations fail and success comes through the back door. While the clock promises the end is near, the mayfly discovers the here and now: the stage, the audience. At first, stammering with stage fright, she develops into a great actor before the eyes of the audience.

With her playing she conquers his heart, and finally, when the ticking stops, she goes through the most important stages of her life once again....

... Pohyb's and his associates achieved with their one-hit wonder what doesn't often happen to me in the theater - my time dissolved and merged with the play. I laughed, I suffered and at the end I applauded their masterly skill with all my heart...

... Stefan Ferencz is not acting - he is the mayfly who loves and fights, suffers and rejoices, unbridled and full of passion. And the audience loves and fights and suffers with him. Stefan Ferencz acts expressively and with great intensity, playing his mayfly into the hearts of the audience...

... With a brilliant blend of slapstick, pantomime and clowning, Stefan Ferencz captivates and inspires in the one-act play

“The Mayfly” entertained the audience for one and a half hours...
