The little mouse strolls through the woods, and naturally, she is a tempting meal for everyone. She encounters a fox, an owl, and a snake, but despite her fear, she isn't completely afraid. From her imagination, she conjures up a creature: the Gruffalo.

None of the animals had ever seen him before. "With knobbly knees, a horrible paw, and a poisonous wart on his face."

With his help, she scares them all away. But then she herself is suddenly visited by the Gruffalo... "Oh, the horror, oh dear..." - But that's the end of the story. far from over.
